(starting at the beginning), what the Bible says regarding God as creator, (as well as to the wonderful discoveries of modern science), with all that that implies about life on earthTaking seriously God's loving purposes in history - seen in the great sweep of the Bible's story, (for the Bible is the chief way in which God reveals himself and his purposes to us), continuing in the life of the church today, and climaxing at some point in the future when Jesus will return and usher in "a new heaven and a new earth"Emphasising Jesus as the Saviour given by God; in particular his death for us and his resurrection have opened up God's grace, bringing forgiveness, salvation and the sure hope of eternal life for all who trust in himSeeking to get to grips with the way that being a follower of Jesus must affect every area of life; our discipleship must be practical, radical and Biblical Recognising that Christian mission involves both evangelism and also wider aspects of building the Kingdom of God, so that we truly act as salt and light for the worldRecognising that individually and as a church we are totally dependant on God's Holy Spirit for spiritual life and vitalityAiming for worship that combines reverence and flexibility, that lifts us up to God and provides opportunity for his Spirit to work among usSeeing the church as a body of people committed to Jesus and committed to each other in Christian love; the church is to value the contribution of all its members, of whatever age or backgroundBuilding links with other churches of different backgrounds, both within the Church of England and outside Seeking to play an effective role in the local communitySeeing ourselves as part of the world-wide Church of God, and so having links with churches and mission societies working in various parts of the world, and wanting to see, as the Lord's Prayer puts it, "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven"Seeking to ensure that our church's preaching and teaching fits in with all the above - i.e. that it is Biblical, inspirational, down-to-earth, understandable, and relevant to life.
